Scotland's whole whisky story in one place. The Scotch Whisky Experience is an award-winning five-star visitor attraction at the top of Edinburgh's Royal Mile, beside Edinburgh Castle, with over 35 years of inspiring visitors. Choose from three immersive tours: the Silver Tour (50 min, £25) for first-timers and families; the Gold Tour (75 min, £39.75) featuring a tasting tray of four contrasting regional single malts; or the Taste of Scotland Tour (3 hours, £95) combining the Gold Tour with a three-course tasting menu at the on-site Amber Restaurant. The attraction is also home to the Diageo Claive Vidiz Collection, one of the world's largest collections of Scotch whisky. Tours run daily in 21 languages. The Amber Restaurant and Whisky Bar opens at noon for lunch and dinner. The Whisky and Gift Shop stocks over 550 different bottlings and is open daily 10am to 8pm.

Lowlands Region
Scotland's southern region, the Lowlands, produces whiskies that are lighter and more delicate than those from the north. Historically the region of triple distillation, Lowland whiskies are often described as the "aperitif" Scotch — perfect for those new to the spirit.
